The Martin OM-42 is one of the most refined and elegant guitars in Martin's Standard Series, and this 2025 example belongs to the newly refreshed generation of the model. The Martin OM42 combines the comfort of the 000 body with a longer scale, giving a voice that is both rich and articulate.

This OM-42 has a solid spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides. The 2025 Standard Series refresh brought Golden Era scalloped X-bracing, borrowed from Martin's Modern Deluxe Series, for more vintage-inspired tone and sustain. The result is a lush, complex sound with deep bass, rich overtones, warm mids and clear, sparkling trebles, balanced evenly across all six strings.

The longer 25.4" scale on the Martin OM 42 adds projection, punch and sustain compared with a short-scale 000. That makes it equally convincing for detailed fingerstyle playing and for fuller strumming. It is an outstanding guitar for fingerstyle, singer-songwriter work, studio recording and live performance.

The gloss genuine mahogany neck has a GE Modified Low Oval profile with high-performance taper and a 1 3/4" nut, giving a comfortable, effortless playing feel. The 2025 refresh also introduced a thinner fingerboard and a refined bridge and heel for improved playability.
