Built with a solid Sitka spruce top and solid East Indian rosewood back and sides, the D-42 delivers deep bass, rich overtones, clear trebles and excellent sustain. It has the broad, refined voice expected from Martin’s higher-end dreadnought range, with enough headroom for powerful strumming and flatpicking while remaining responsive to a lighter touch.

The forward-shifted scalloped X-bracing gives the top a lively and open response, contributing to strong projection, excellent dynamic range and a rich low end.

Premium Style 42 appointments include abalone pearl top inlay and rosette, snowflake-style fingerboard inlays, grained ivoroid binding, ebony fingerboard and bridge, and gold hardware. These details give the D-42 its unmistakable high-end Martin appearance.
