C.F. Martin & Co. D-25K (1980) – Rare Limited-Production Koa Dreadnought – First-Year Model – Good Condition

This Martin D-25K 1980 — also searched as D25K 1980, Martin D 25K, or Martin D-25K Hawaiian Koa — is a rare vintage dreadnought produced in limited numbers and highly regarded for its distinctive koa character and collectible appeal.

Built with a solid spruce top and solid Hawaiian koa back and sides, this 1980 D-25K delivers a unique tonal profile combining strong low-end warmth with clear articulation and sparkling highs. Compared to traditional rosewood Martins like the D-28, the D-25K offers a brighter, more defined response while retaining impressive depth and projection.

Manufactured from 1980 to 1989, the D-25K was produced in limited quantities, with only around 512 units made across all years, making it one of Martin’s rarer vintage models. This example comes from the first production year (1980), adding further appeal for collectors and vintage Martin enthusiasts.

This Martin D-25K (1980) is in good condition, showing honest signs of use and age including picking wear on the upper top, fine scratches, and finish checking, contributing to its authentic vintage character. The nut and saddle have been replaced, and while the tuners feel slightly stiff from age, they function properly. The guitar maintains a comfortable setup with good playability.

Includes original Martin hardshell case.
