C.F. Martin & Co. D-18GE Golden Era (2009) – Adirondack Spruce – Very Good Condition
This Martin D-18GE Golden Era 2009 — also searched as Martin D18GE, Martin D 18 GE, D-18 Golden Era, used Martin D-18GE, or Martin Adirondack mahogany dreadnought — is one of the most highly regarded modern interpretations of Martin’s pre-war Style 18 dreadnoughts.
Built with a solid Adirondack spruce top and solid genuine mahogany back and sides, the D-18GE delivers exceptional projection, clarity and dynamic range. Adirondack spruce provides excellent headroom and a powerful response when played hard, while remaining sensitive and articulate under a lighter touch. Combined with mahogany, the result is a dry, woody and focused voice with strong fundamentals, punchy mids and clear trebles.
The forward-shifted scalloped Golden Era X-bracing contributes to the guitar’s open, powerful response and strong bass presence. It has considerably more headroom and vintage-style character than a standard D-18 from the same period, making the D-18GE especially popular among flatpickers and players looking for a powerful mahogany dreadnought.
Vintage-inspired construction includes a Modified V mahogany neck, 1 3/4” (44.5 mm) nut width, ebony fingerboard and bridge, long through bone saddle, open-gear tuners and traditional Style 18 appointments.
This 2009 Martin D-18GE is in very good condition. There is one small dent on the top, but it is extremely difficult to notice under normal viewing and does not detract from the overall appearance of the guitar. Otherwise, the instrument presents very well and has been carefully maintained.
A superb example of the discontinued D-18GE and an excellent choice for anyone looking for a powerful, responsive Adirondack-and-mahogany Martin dreadnought.
