C.F. Martin & Co. 000-18GE Golden Era 1937 Sunburst (2006) – Adirondack Spruce – Very Good Condition
This Martin 000-18GE Golden Era from 2006 — also searched as Martin 00018GE, Martin 000 18 GE, Martin 000-18 Golden Era, used Martin 000-18GE, or Martin Adirondack mahogany acoustic — is a highly desirable vintage-inspired acoustic guitar based on Martin’s legendary pre-war 1937 000-18.
Introduced in 2006, the 000-18GE Golden Era was designed to recreate the tone, construction and playing character of Martin’s celebrated pre-war mahogany guitars. This example features the beautiful 1935 Sunburst finish, giving the instrument a striking vintage appearance.
Built with a solid Adirondack spruce top and solid genuine mahogany back and sides, the 000-18GE delivers exceptional clarity, responsiveness and dynamic range. Adirondack spruce provides excellent headroom and a powerful, articulate response, while mahogany contributes warm, woody mids, strong fundamentals, crisp trebles and a tight, focused bass.
One of the most important features is its 1/4” scalloped Golden Era X-bracing made from Adirondack spruce. This lightweight, vintage-inspired construction allows the smaller 000 body to produce impressive volume, projection and resonance. The result is a wonderfully expressive guitar that responds beautifully to delicate fingerpicking while offering plenty of power for flatpicking and strumming.
The 24.9” short scale provides comfortable string tension, while the traditional Modified V neck with a 1930s-style heel and 1 3/4” (44.5 mm) nut width deliver an authentic vintage Martin playing experience.
Premium Golden Era appointments include an ebony fingerboard and bridge, a long through saddle, Brazilian rosewood headplate, vintage-style open-gear tuners, Old Style 18 fingerboard inlays and traditional tortoise-pattern binding.
The 2006 production year is particularly interesting, as it represents the introductory year of the 000-18GE series, which has since been discontinued and remains highly regarded among Martin enthusiasts.
This 2006 Martin 000-18GE Sunburst is in very good condition, showing light signs of normal use consistent with its age. A beautiful example of a sought-after Golden Era Martin, combining traditional craftsmanship, premium tonewoods and exceptional acoustic character.
