Levin 00 style 1949 - Custom built

Levin 00 (1949) – Extensively Rebuilt Vintage Acoustic – Brazilian Rosewood Details

This Levin 00 from 1949 is a heavily restored and carefully rebuilt vintage acoustic, combining its original character with extensive structural work aimed at improving resonance, stability and playability.

The interior has been completely rebuilt using quarter-sawn spruce approximately 100 years old, including newly constructed scalloped bracing. The bridge plate has also been replaced with Brazilian rosewood, giving the guitar a high-quality traditional internal construction.

The guitar retains a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, while the bridge has been rebuilt in Brazilian rosewood and fitted with special brass bridge pins. The lower binding has been replaced as part of the restoration.

A full neck reset has been completed, and all frets have been individually glued and dressed. The guitar currently has an exceptionally low string action, specifically adjusted for a very light personal playing style.

Importantly, several original components remain, including the original nut and original vintage tuners, helping preserve the guitar’s authentic 1949 character.

A passive pickup has also been installed, allowing the guitar to be amplified without adding a large onboard preamp or changing its vintage appearance.

This is not an untouched collector’s instrument, but rather a fully rebuilt and optimized vintage Levin, intended to be played. It combines original 1949 components with high-quality restoration work and carefully selected materials. The guitar is very nice to play on and sounds excellent!
