Martin HD-28 (1981) – Vintage Herringbone Dreadnought, Excellent Condition
This Martin HD-28 from 1981 is a beautifully aged vintage dreadnought, delivering the classic herringbone look and rich, open tone that players love. With over 40 years of natural aging, this HD-28 has developed exceptional resonance, warmth, and volume—true to the legendary pre-war style it was built to honor.
The guitar is in very good vintage condition, with expected cosmetic signs from age but no structural issues. Neck angle and setup are healthy, and it plays cleanly across the fretboard.
Importantly, like all early HD-28 models, this 1981 example does not have an adjustable truss rod. Instead, it features Martin’s original non-adjustable steel T-bar neck reinforcement, true to vintage-style construction.
String height is set up to 2.2 - 2.5mm , on 12-54 strings
